Welcome to the Yahoo! Coder’s Cookbook (YCC) where you can find all things relating to Yahoo! Messenger.  This site is dedicated to professional explanations and discussions revolving around Yahoo! Messenger and the protocols that drive it.  Here you will find everything from source code to make your own Messenger client to news about the latest exploits and hacks.

When I started researching the Yahoo! Messenger protocol I could not find any reliable sources for in-depth information about Messenger.  With nothing to start with, I used the official Messenger client and started making network captures to see what was really going on with the Messenger protocol.  From this information I created my own Messenger client which I now call the YCC Trainer and several tutorials about how the Yahoo! Messenger protocol works.  Since there were no websites dedicated to providing accurate and detailed information about the Yahoo! messenger protocol, I decided to start the Yahoo! Coder’s Cookbook and fill that gap.

Since opening the Yahoo Coder’s Cookbook I have also added several tools that include a Yahoo! account creator called YCC Yahoo Bot Maker, a Messenger webcam capture utility called YCC Cam Cap, a blog with the latest Yahoo! news and rumors, a forum were users can discuss any Yahoo! topic, and of course Visual Basic.NET source code for all of the projects on the site.  More recently I have also added a donation service where you can show your gratitude for all of the hard work that has gone into the Yahoo! Coder’s Cookbook or you can take advantage of the Developer Services where you can have features added to any YCC product or service.

All who are curious about Yahoo! Messenger and what makes it work are welcome here.  By sharing what I know, I hope to create an environment where ideas and knowledge are freely exchanged.  I still have several questions of my own and by creating this website I hope to also receive knowledge and continue the cycle of learning and research.

Contact Information

The quickest way to contact me is to leave a message on the forum as I usually check it every day.  If you have a general question about Yahoo! or the site then you should create a topic and ask it in the appropriate sub-forum.  Otherwise you can leave me a private message using the forum system.

The second best way to contact me is to send an email to admin [at] ycoderscookbook.com.  If I do not respond then you can assume the message got lost in the SPAM folder.

The third way is to send me an IM via Yahoo! messenger to tansqrxatycc.  Despite being an avid Yahoo! Messenger follower I am usually not very chatty so please keep your questions related to this site or Yahoo!  I appreciate any suggestions, comments, or questions but requests for me to do unpaid work for you will usually fall on deaf ears.
