All programs, tutorials, blogs, and forums from Yahoo! Coder’s Cookbook are absolutely free. You should never be asked to pay for any of these services and hopefully they will stay free and open source. With that said I have been asked if I accept donations and the answer is yes. I do not expect much in return for all my hard work but if you feel that any of the YCC programs or Yahoo! Coder’s Cookbook website has been helpful then please contribute a small amount to let me know that you appreciate my work. With just a few donations for my efforts I can justify sending more time in this area and produce new programs, improvements to existing programs, and even more web page content.

Development Services (New features, new programs, technical support)

Have you ever wanted a particular new feature added to YCC Trainer or another YCC program? Perhaps you would like a new program not offered. You may even need in-depth technical support for one of the programs. I offer a service that allows Yahoo! Coder’s Cookbook patrons to donate for consideration to any of the above services.

Let me explain this a little bit more in-depth. I am not a regular software developer for hire. My focus with the Yahoo! Coder’s Cookbook is to develop useful programs that meet my core interests. The website and programs are following a natural evolution of my interests. By making a donation you are asking me to accelerate development in a particular area that would naturally fall into my existing expansion scheme.

Here is an example. Let’s say that you would like to have webcam support added to YCC Trainer. I already have plans for this but it is well in the future. With the appropriate donation I would be willing to accelerate development for webcam support and have it out within four months and not two to three years.

Another example would be to ask for a new program that is an add-on to Messenger that displays weather data for Russia. I have never done any development for add-ons and it is not something that interests me. In this case I would have to decline the donation or you would have to give a donation reflects how much you REALLY want me to do it.

As always, all requests are completely free and I am always happy to hear how I can improve the Yahoo! Coder’s Cookbook experience.
